NEVER TOO LATE CELEBRATES 1,000TH WISH MILESTONE
BY FULFILLING B.H.A.G. WISH FOR 90-YEAR OLD

(B.H.A.G. = Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal)

(and WooHOO, We Did IT!)

After serving the forgotten elderly and terminally ill adults for six years and six months, Never Too Late fulfilled a landmark wish -  the 1,000th one - on June 7th. 

So how does a not-for-profit organization celebrate that high point moment? Spend lots of money and have a big party? I don’t think so!

In March 2006, Ms. Amy McDowell, the Community Relations Director at a Miller’s Senior Living Community, recommended that Never Too Late try and fulfill a wish for a 90-year old man that calls himself “the Lord’s beggar for the poor.” For the past seventeen years, this humble man of God (dressed in his trademark bib overalls) has served the poorest of the poor in the Indianapolis area. When asked what his wish would be, it was nothing for himself: Lucious Newsom wanted Never Too Late to help feed the hungry families assisted by The Lord’s Pantry that he formed years ago.

The Big Hairy Audacious Goal (B.H.A.G,) part of the wish was the challenge to provide a 1,000 sacks of groceries for 1,000 households on Saturday, July 29th, at the corner of New York and Elder Streets. 

Never Too Late chose to celebrate its 1,000th wish — by fulfilling this wish for a 90-year old dedicated servant to the people.

AND WE DID IT WITH YOUR HELP!!! THANK YOU!!!

Each grocery bag (1,000 total) contained a multitude of items, including (but not limited too):

 - 2 Loaves of fresh bread
 - Big Jar of peanut butter
 - Big Jar of jelly
 - Box of cereal
 - Box of macaroni and cheese
 - Iodized Salt
 - Can of corn
 - Can of green beans
 - Can of peas
 - 2 Cans of Spaghetti 
 - Can of Beef Stew

All packaged in 1,000 donated sacks.
