| Subject : | Ruth Saul Wish To Have At Least 100 Cards For Her 100th Birthday |
My heartfelt thanks to all of you (and your networks) for reaching out to Ruth Saul on her 100th birthday.
After living with her devoted daughter and son-in-law for the past 30 years, Ruth recently reached the point where she needed constant care, so she moved into a long term care facility.
Thanks to all of you, she received way more than 100 cards (see daughter Carol's thank you note below), so the next week will be spent by Ruth reading over all of your well
wishes - which will serve as a HUGE help as she emotionally begins to adapt to her new quarters.
Thanks again - you all done good!!
Bob
PS It appears that Ruth received cards from well wishers in 50 states, plus a card from folks in Argentina, Guatemala, and Greece!!

Subject: St. Joseph
Bob:
Mother was more than delighted with the cards, cards, cards, so many cards. The ones from the students in St. Joseph were particularly touching. She held each card as tenderly as she would have held the tiny hands that created it. Thank you to the teacher for allowing her class to add such joy to our celebration.
This summer, she was told that she probably wouldn't survive the surgery that was needed. She decided it was worth the risk. After her decision to face the odds was made, she looked up at me and said, "I did want to make it to 100, but that's the way it goes." I'm so happy that she got to this place in her life. I watched the clock last night until after midnight and said a prayer of thanks that she fulfilled her wish and because she did, so many thoughtful people fulfilled her hope that she would get 100 cards. I think it will be 1000 when the final count is in.
I can't thank you enough, Bob, for all you did to help with this. Many people have written about how excited they were to participate and wanted to be sure I let them know the final count. I know they are astounded. I certainly am.
Much, much love and thanks,
Ruth and Carol
PS Please thank Julie again for everything she did to add to the joy of the occasion. Mother was still talking today about the visit with Julie and the children. What a wonderful thing for her to do. It was very much enjoyed by Mother and very much appreciated by me.
