I JUST WANNA FLY!

87-year old John Davis Takes to the Air on NTL

John Davis still carries his pilot's license from the 1950s, although he hasn't flown a plane since 1957.

That all changed on May 6th, 2006, when pilot Jerry Jensen flew all the way from Richmond, IN to Gordon Graham Airfield in Danville, IN so that 87-year old John could soar like an eagle once again.

John got to put his hands on the throttle of a 1942 restored Stearman Biplane and he had the time of his life.  His daughter even provided him with a faux Snoopy pilot scarf (constructed out of toilet paper)!

John's two daughters, their husbands and fellow residents at the Hearth at Prestwick assisted living facility in Danville waved John on as he and fellow pilot Jerry lifted up into the clouds on a beautiful sunny day in May!

John was all GRINS when he came back to earth again...and the "glow" was still with him a week later, according to Amy Mendenhall, Activities Director at the Hearth at Prestwick.
