Leo Hine Never Too Late has been blessed to have Leo Hine as one of its partners since 2001. In fact, it was Alan Bucksot, a previous NTL volunteer of the month that called his former Warren Central High School football coach to ask his help with a difficult wish.
Supposedly, everyone in the world is separated from someone else by “six degrees.” With Leo, those six steps of separation are reduced to “two”- Leo will make no more than two phone calls to help Never Too Late time and again find a source to donate goods, services, or cash to help turn a dream for an elder treasure into a reality.
When former Indy 500 winning mechanic (1935) Jimmy Dunham came to town in the month of May 2005, Leo contacted a Ford dealer that donated the use of a brand new Mustang for Jimmy, his son and grandson. Then Leo contacted the Mayor’s office and a week later, Jimmy was receiving a key to the city of Indianapolis.
It was Leo that made a 'couple' of calls and found a donor in 2006 to help NTL bring about a huge wish that touched over 1,000 lives. When 90-year old inner city minister Lucious Newsom asked NTL to grant a wish for him - to provide 1,000 bags of groceries for people in need - it was Leo that NTL turned to for help. Leo made the connection with Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Centers and the president of the company wrote a check that made possible the purchase of the final goods needed to provide over 14,000 food items for the poorest of the poor. Then, to top it off, Leo contacted his son Jay Hine, who owns Morris Apparel, Inc., and Jay donated over 1,000 T-shirts to be placed in the bags with the food.
Leo loves networking with others for the common good of all. Never Too Late is privileged to have Leo on our team as a “designated hitter” - someone who, when called upon, is going to “put one over the fence” every time!
