On
7-11-07, I ended my e-mail message to you by stating that I couldn't wait until
Candace Auth would be able to tell me that she has received over 100
well-wishing cards. As a result of sending out the word to all of our
collective e-mail lists and by posting the wish request on the Never Too
Late website, that "magic" number has been surpassed. As
of 7-18-07, Candace has received cards (and prayers) from 111 people,
including a letter from El Salvador and a card from Tokyo!!
All of
this outpouring of love and concern for her - a total stranger to the people
sending the cards - has touched her heart and soul deeply. "And to
think," she said, "I waited two weeks, until 1AM in the morning,
before sending my wish request to Never Too Late." Candace had
read about the NTL wishes in the June issue of Guideposts and
initially she didn't think her request would qualify as a "real"
wish. Glad she changed her mind!
I had
previously shared with you that Candace turned 60 on 7-7-07, and that her
family was getting together on July 15th for a dinner and mini-celebration of
her reaching that milestone birthday. Well...the "mini" turned
out to be a "maxi" - 35 people attended...relatives, friends, folks
from her church...and the biggest and best surprise was that her brother and
sister-in-law flew in from California to be there for her celebration of
life party...she couldn't have been any happier. She told me it was
the BEST birthday that she has ever had!!
Back
to those greeting cards with prayers in them...Candace
still needs an ongoing flow of well-wishing cards to help keep her
spirits buoyed. Like she said, "I look forward to going
to the mail box everyday!"
Candace
loves hearing from her new pen pals...and she cherishes each card and prayer
message as she reads them again from time to time. So...keep
those cards a comin' to Candace until the postman raises cane for having
to deliver so many items to just one person on his route!!
