Wishes Fulfilled:

Westminister Village North recognizes the Never Too Late and recounts the Wishes Fulfilled:

In partnership with the Never Too Late Foundation and WIBC Radio, Westminster Village North has been making wishes come true for residents since November, 2004.

Virginia DeFourneaux

It all began with a Veteran's Day promotion...Village veterans joined with children from the Loving Care Program at nearby Sunnyside Elementary School to package gift bags for troops leaving from Camp Atterbury for Iraq and Afghanistan. At the early morning event, WIBC's Teri Stacey interviewed Village resident Virginia DéFourneaux, a retired U.S. Army nurse who had always dreamed of riding in a hot air balloon.

Although oncoming winter weather delayed Virginia's wish, Never Too Late founder and president Bob Haverstick promised she would be floating above the Village come Spring 2005.

Virginia's wish was followed by those of other Village veterans, with such success that Never Too Late and Westminster Village North formed a bond, promising to work together to continue fulfilling the fondest wishes of Village residents.

WIBC personality Big John Gillis (with camera) and Village resident Merle Ritter took a beautiful, hour-long ride around Indianapolis in the luxurious club seats of a private helicopter, after Merle expressed his wish to take such a ride with the well-known traffic reporter.

Dick Lindstaedt and WIBC's Greg Garrison

Village cottager Dick Lindstaedt looks back fondly on his home town of Cumberland, IN, and remembers his friendship with radio talk show host Greg Garrison's pharmacist father. Now that Greg is a well-known spokesman for the conservative cause, Dick wished he could spend some time reminiscing and talking politics with Greg. Dick's wish came true when the two men met over coffee at a nearby Cracker Barrel restaurant. As an added bonus, Dick was carried to and from the meeting in a beautiful stretch limousine, courtesy of the Never Too Late Foundation.

Jack Miller's wish was to enjoy a romantic dinner with his wife, Ruth. Because any travel is difficult for the two Health Center residents, Gaelic & Garlic Catering, Peterson's Restaurant and Shadeland Flower Shop joined with the Village to create a very special private evening for the two. The Millers feasted on lobster and filet in a cozily decorated dining alcove at the Village. Shown here, the couple express their dining wishes to Chef Will Plamondon and his partner Karen Mangia, who also provided music for the evening.

Mr. Elwood Sipole and Mr. Dunk - Darnell Hillman

U.S. Army veteran Elwood Sipole wasn't up to his wish to take in a Pacers' game, but the team still made one of its biggest fans happy. Former Pacer star Darnell Hillman (popularly known as "Dr. Dunk") showed up at the Village for a long visit with Elwood. Darnell brought along lots of gifts for Elwood, including a 27" flat-screen TV on which the Health Center resident can watch his favorite NBA team from the comfort of his own room.

Forrest Quinn's only wish was for a romantic evening with his wife, Eileen. Diane Harmon of Shadeland Flower Shop provided Eileen's favorite flowers (an orchid corsage). Never Too Late came through with stretch limousine service, and the elegant Peterson's Restaurant engineered a secluded table for two and a stunning dinner designed and prepared just for the couple. The evening was magical and memorable for the Quinns, who have been married 62 years!!
