On April 12, 2007, I received an e-mail message from someone offering to do a letter writing campaign on behalf of Never Too Late. Her goal was to send out letters to everyone on her Christmas card list, asking friends, family members and business associates to help her raise $1,000.00 for Never Too Late in the month of May.

That “someone” turned out to be Ms. Amy Ready, one of the most energetic, compassionate people I have encountered in my lifetime. The reason Amy sought out a group like Never Too Late was because she had formed “A Friendly Word” campaign when she and her husband first moved to California. Over a two-year period, she had built up a network of 500 volunteers who agreed to send a handwritten letter to nursing home residents on a bi-weekly basis. The efforts of this human dynamo and her corps of selfless volunteers touched Five Hundred forgotten souls on a regular basis!

Back home again in Indiana, Ms. Amy was looking for a new cause. Thank God for Google! For when Amy typed in “Seniors Charity in Indianapolis,” up popped lots of links to Never Too Late.

During the month of May 2007, Amy sent out 105 fundraising letters on behalf of Never Too Late and found four businesses that agreed to place donation boxes by their checkout counters. This one-woman campaign generated a 45% response ratio. Instead of raising $1,000.00 for Never Too Late in 31 days, she created a ripple effect that brought in over $2,000.00 for Never Too Late’s elder-wish-making cause! Those funds will cover the costs of at least another seven (7) wishes at an average cost of $283.00 per wish.

We feel blessed that Amy Ready discovered Never Too Late and that she embraced our cause wholeheartedly with her creative letter writing campaign to raise much-needed funds for our not for profit organization. Now we at Never Too Late hope that those of you reading this bio about Amy will follow her lead and offer to do likewise.

They help run the place:

Our volunteers answer phones, enter information into our database, stuff envelopes, i.e., they do all kinds of cool administrative-type stuff.

They help make wishes come true:

They accompany wish recipients
They make pickups and deliveries
They help connect the dots - i.e., they put NTL staffers in touch with those who have the ability to make a wish come true. Who you know may make the difference in NTL's ability to grant a wish.
They help in NTL's fundraising efforts

All contributions are appreciated by the volunteers and staff of NTL but more importantly, by our wish recipients.
